Things To Do Before you Move
Check List
4 Weeks Before
  • Move aside items which you do not wish to pack.
  • Notify post office for redirection of mail.
  • Don’t forget your medical records, you may need them (dentist).
  • When buying new household appliances, ask for export price.
  • Transfer your insurance.
  • Make arrangement with school to make a transcript of school records.
  • Don’t forget your bank account.
  • Advise your church, and electoral body.
  • Plan to sell your car. If you have intention to buy new things here we can arrange for Tax Exemption and you save on sales price ! If you are sending your car, see our website for requirements and hints on cars.
2 Weeks Before
  • Plan how will you pack your things.
  • Prepare with AAAM insurance for all items.
  • Don’t forget your pets - arrange shipment.
  • Check your itinerary - confirm reservations.
  • Return borrowed items, and don’t forget your things which are loaned.
  • Plan to disconnect phone, electricity, gas, pay TV.
1 Weeks Before
  • Move away chemicals and unwanted medicine.
  • Prepare your personal luggage for trip.
  • Dissemble shelves and other fitted items.
  • Carefully plan loading into container, secure your valuables.
1 Day Before
  • Defrost refrigerator (don’t close the door).
  • Plan your meals - make them simple.
  • Pack yourself.
D - Day
  • Make detailed inventory list - send a copy to AAAM. In that way you will save your money and time for customs formalities in your country.
  • Put REAL VALUE of your things on it.
  • Don’t forget to arrange payment to AAAM , and advise them for any changes of temporary address or telephone number.
  • Check the house before leaving, every room, turn switches and taps off. FLAMMABLE MATERIALS STRICKTLY FORBIDDEN IN CONTAINER !
  • Distribute the weight evenly over the whole floor of the container in order to avoid the risk of tipping, by overloading the front/rear part of container ! Use correct lashing/securing material in accordance with the type of containerised cargo to be packed. Keep goods with protruding parts and irregular edges separate from other goods and use separation material. Secure the goods at the door end.

  • Call our agent , in relation to transportation of your goods (it is shown as notify party on the B/L).
  • Check setted voltage on your electrical appliances before using them! Send your comment to us. We shall appreciate your suggestions, if any.

  3. Disconnect the battery

  5. Lower the pressure in tyres - that prevents skidding of the car in container
  6. Disribute the weight evenly over the whole floor of the container in order to avoid the risk of tipping of the container, by overloading the front / rear part of container !
