Before shipment car has to be properly secured and prepared for journey overseas.
Some countries has some limitations for importing cars, for that reason consult your Embassy for conditions to be on a safe side, when sending car overseas.
If you want to ship your car along with furniture, make sure to protect the car from falling boxes using correct materials.
How To Secure Your Car Before Shipping
- Secure wheels with: strong nylon rope/or chain / strong straps to the lower hooks in the container.
- Put clogs in the front and at the back of the wheels [handbrake on]
- Disconnect the battery.
- Make sure that petrol tank is almost empty.
- Lower the pressure in the tyres - tist prevents skidding of the car inside the container.
- Distribute the weight evenly over the whole floor of the container in order to avoid the risk of tipping of the container, by overloading the front / rear part of container.
- Use correct lashing / securing material in accordance with the type of containerised cargo to be packed.
Keep goods with protruding parts and irregular edges separate from other goods and use separation material.
Secure the goods at the door end.
